This immature bluebird was following its parent around my yard when it landed on a rock and slate wall and seemed to ask me to take its picture. There is just a hint of the beautiful blue hue that will eventually color its entire body, but set off against a blue sky this little bird still has its own beauty.

I taught myself film photography in an environment that was both endlessly inspiring and frustratingly difficult: the high Andes of Ecuador, where vivid colors and fascinating subject were regularly swallowed up by the harsh contrast of strong sunlight. Upon returning to the States I had to limit my photographic work for nearly 20 years. Finally, with more free time available and relocation to the stunning foothills of Colorado, photography has reclaimed my passion. I hope some of these images bring you a fraction of the enjoyment and inspiration I experienced capturing them.
