Artist's Description
Many types of ducks and other water fowl hang out on Colorado's lakes, ponds and streams during the winter. Hooded mergansers are among the most striking. This male was swimming along the South Platte River on a calm day and I was able to get reflections of him and the shoreline.
About Lowell Monke
I taught myself film photography in an environment that was both endlessly inspiring and frustratingly difficult: the high Andes of Ecuador, where vivid colors and fascinating subject were regularly swallowed up by the harsh contrast of strong sunlight. Upon returning to the States I had to limit my photographic work for nearly 20 years. Finally, with more free time available and relocation to the stunning foothills of Colorado, photography has reclaimed my passion. I hope some of these images bring you a fraction of the enjoyment and inspiration I experienced capturing them.
