Description
The bridge of sighs was so named because supposedly as criminals walked across the bridge from being sentenced on one side to the prison on the other, they would take one last look through the windows and, seeing the beautiful Venice canals, would give a sigh. Evidently, that story was a myth but it made this particular bridge famous.
