Bald Eagle Perched on Pole Kids T-Shirt

Driving toward a lake with a nesting pair of bald eagles I saw this one hunting from an old, no longer used high line pole. This is a beautiful bird and one of the larger raptors I've encountered in Colorado. I spent a long time watching it before it finally took off over a field.

I taught myself film photography in an environment that was both endlessly inspiring and frustratingly difficult: the high Andes of Ecuador, where vivid colors and fascinating subject were regularly swallowed up by the harsh contrast of strong sunlight. Upon returning to the States I had to limit my photographic work for nearly 20 years. Finally, with more free time available and relocation to the stunning foothills of Colorado, photography has reclaimed my passion. I hope some of these images bring you a fraction of the enjoyment and inspiration I experienced capturing them.
